Performance tires: treadwear and grades
Lines whose NHTSA product name says performance, high-performance (HP) or ultra-high-performance (UHP).
Method note: this category is inferred only from name markers (HP, H/P, UHP, "Performance") in NHTSA’s product names. It misses lines that don’t say so in the name, and we can’t verify a maker’s category from this data.

FAQ
How do you decide which tires are performance?
Only from the product name NHTSA lists. Lines whose name contains HP, H/P, UHP, "Performance" are included. NHTSA has no tire-type field, so lines without a marker are not classified, and a name marker is the maker's naming choice, not a test result.
What is the typical treadwear grade for performance tires?
The median line grade among the 71 marked lines is 420; all 3,020 rated lines have a median of 420. Treadwear is not mileage.
Which brand has the most performance-marked lines?
Bridgestone (8 lines), then Goodyear (5).
