FAQ
What does a treadwear rating of 600–699 mean?
Treadwear is the maker's rating of wear against the government's control tire, which is graded 100; a grade of 200 means the tire is rated to wear twice as slowly on the test course. For 600–699 that works out to 6 to just under 7 times as slowly (our arithmetic). It is not a mileage figure and varies with driving, vehicle and maintenance.
How many tire lines have treadwear 600–699?
290 lines in the NHTSA file we downloaded on 2026-10-25, by median grade. That is 9.6% of 3,020 rated lines.
Which brand has the most lines in the 600–699 band?
Falken (28 lines), followed by Hankook (21). Counting lines is not a ranking of quality or popularity.
